Grundy park – originally the grounds of one of the largest country house in the town of Cheshunt, now a public park, has recently got the go ahead for a £1.3m renovation works. We at A+L Architecture studio have been involved as landscape architects on this scheme from concept stage through to tender stage and are delighted to be involved in overseeing the works on site that have recently begun. The project has been carefully designed to retain and complement the existing historic features in the park. The scheme involves creating a new feature entrance gateway into the park, a cherry tree avenue walk leading to an Edwardian style central parterre garden. A raised bed community garden, a new topiary avenue, a new petanque court and new edwardian style planting along the edges have been designed in to add a varied range of landscaped spaces and features that the community can enjoy throughout the year. Wider improvements to play facilities will include a new all-weather pitch, replacement of a basket ball court and other play facilities. The scheme is part of the wider improvements to the Cheshunt area and is intended to create a lasting legacy that will help return Grundy park to its former glory and become an important attraction at Broxbourne.
