Situated on a quiet street in Hitchin, this corner-detached property enjoys a picturesque outlook, with its front aspect overlooking a brook lined with mature trees, including graceful weeping willows.
With a south-facing frontage, the property presented a valuable opportunity to capture natural light and scenic views. Responding to the client’s brief, the design sought to make full use of the generous plot and orientation by creating spaces that connect effortlessly with the outdoors, while framing vistas of the surrounding landscape from within the house to the front and rear.
To realise this vision, the property was extended to the side, accommodating a spacious kitchen, a dedicated study, and a shower room. A gabled porch was introduced to the front façade, offering a defined entrance and a welcoming sense of arrival. Each new space was carefully designed to maximise daylight through strategically positioned windows and rooflights, allowing warm sunlight to flood the interiors and enrich the overall spatial experience.
